New details emerged Monday about a shooting that left a 19-year-old woman from Conover fighting for her life.
A judge denied bond for Crystal Lor's boyfriend, Mee See, after deputies said he shot her and then tried to drive her to the hospital Sunday morning.
Eyewitness News learned more about a possible motive behind the shooting and learned there was a third person – a woman – in the car as See raced Lor to the hospital. That woman called 911.
"We're on Highway 16," she says.
"OK, you're on 16. Are you requesting paramedics to meet you?" asks s dispatcher.
"Yes, she has been shot in the head," says the caller.
Monday in court See faced a judge, charged with attempted first-degree murder. Deputies believe he shot Lor in the head after the two got into an argument.
"Due to where she had been earlier, he thought she had been gone too long," said Catawba County Sheriff Coy Reid.
Deputies said See was upset because his girlfriend had spent too much time at a Walmart. Ironically, that's where they ended up after deputies said See shot Lor at his home in Conover.
Instead of calling for help, police said See started driving Lor to the hospital with another woman who made the 911 call.
"She is breathing," says the caller.
"Ma'am, are you close to Walmart? Can you pull into the Walmart?" asks the dispatcher.
"How far are we away from the Walmart? Five minutes," the caller replies.
Police officers found the car in the Walmart parking lot. According to a search warrant, deputies found a shotgun and .38-special inside See's home. They believe the shooting happened in a bedroom.
Neighbors are in disbelief.
"Very quiet. Nobody hears anything like that happening. We're so far back in the woods, away from the city where everything happens," said Scott Gilbert, a neighbor.
Lor remains at Carolinas Medical Center in critical condition, according to police. They said so far See hasn't said anything to investigators about what happened.
